Our Legacy

Three Decades Moving Somerset County

Founded in Manville back in 1985, Sopko Moving and Storage is a family-owned moving and storage company — 41+ years carrying homes and offices across Somerset County.

The name on the truck is the name of the family that runs it: one crew, our own equipment, and a written rate you can hold before move day.

From a one-bedroom in Manville to a full house in Bridgewater or Bedminster, every job rides on the same standard — trained, background-checked movers, padded loads, and clean storage on standby when a closing slips.

We are licensed and insured in NJ, carry US DOT authority for the long hauls, and stand behind every move with $1M cargo coverage on every move.

What We Do

Our Moving & Storage Services

One Manville crew handles the whole job — from a single piano to a full corporate office — and when your timing is off, our own climate-controlled storage keeps your things safe in between.

The Difference

Why Families Pick Sopko Moving and Storage

Licensed & Insured

Fully licensed in NJ with US DOT authority and $1M cargo coverage on every move, so a local job and an interstate haul both ride on proper paperwork.

Floor & Wall Protection

Floor runners, door-jamb pads, and shrink wrap go down before a single box moves, so your old place and your new one come through without a scuff.

Full-Time W-2 Crews

The hands on your move are our own employees — trained, background-checked, and on payroll. We never hand your belongings to day labor or a subcontractor.

Written Protection Agreement

Every move comes with a clear written agreement and a flat rate you approve up front. What you sign is what you settle — no curbside surprises.

Local Experts In Manville & Somerset County

We are not a national call center — we live and work here. Our crews know the borough streets, the township back roads, the apartment complexes, and the Jersey weather that comes with every season. From the first quote to the last box, you are dealing with neighbors who have moved this county for 41 years.

A Family Name You Can Hold To

“When my family started Sopko Moving and Storage in 1985, the promise was simple: show up on time, treat your home like our own, and quote one honest price before move day. 41 years later, that is still exactly how every crew runs — whether it is a studio across Manville or a full house headed out of state, and whether your things go straight to the new place or wait safe in our storage in between.”

Moving & Storage Questions

What does a move cost in Manville?
Two clean ways to price it, and Michael walks you through both. By the hour it is $115 for a two-mover crew and truck, $155 for three, and $205 for four, and the clock starts when we reach your door, not at the yard. When the job is clear up front we lock one flat rate by home size instead — a studio runs about $360 to $590, a one-bedroom $590 to $980, a two-bedroom $980 to $1,680, a three-bedroom $1,680 to $2,780, and a four-bedroom $2,780 to $4,380. Tell us the pickup, the drop-off, the front steps or elevator on each end, and how the parking reads, and we hand you a written figure — the rate we quote anywhere across Manville and Somerset County is the rate you settle on move day, blue-ribbon and on budget.
Is Sopko Moving and Storage licensed and insured?
Yes. We are licensed for household moves anywhere in New Jersey under a NJ Public Mover license, and we carry US DOT and MC authority for interstate runs, so a Hillsborough job and a haul up the Turnpike to Boston both ride on proper paperwork. Every move carries $1 million in cargo coverage, and we send our credentials or a Certificate of Insurance straight to a New Brunswick loft, a Bridgewater high-rise, or any building management or HOA that needs one on file before the date.
What does your full-service move actually cover?
The whole job, start to finish, not just the truck ride. Our crew pads and shrink-wraps the furniture, breaks down bed frames and tables, and lays floor and doorway protection before anything leaves the house. Want it all handled? We bring the boxes, paper, and tape and pack the place for you, full or partial. Local or long-distance, a home or an office, with packing or storage on either end — one Sopko crew runs the same blue-ribbon routine on every piece, pianos and gun safes right alongside the boxes, so you are never chasing three different vendors on move day.
How far out should I book the crew?
Saturdays and the last week of the month fill up first, so allow two or three weeks of lead time on those, and a touch more when a New Brunswick loft or a Bridgewater high-rise has to reserve a freight-elevator window. Weekdays and mid-month dates often open up on just a few days’ notice, and when a truck is sitting free we are happy to take last-minute or same-day work. Call (888) 711-4778 and we will tell you straight what is still on the board.
Do you take a deposit up front?
Most local Manville moves take nothing down — a quick confirmation call the day before is all we need. Long-haul interstate jobs and the busiest Saturday dates hold the slot with a small refundable deposit, and every dollar of it comes right off your final balance.
Where does your crew move?
Manville and right across Somerset County — Hillsborough, Bridgewater, Somerville, Bound Brook, Bedminster, Branchburg, Raritan, Franklin Township, Basking Ridge, Warren, and the rest of Somerset, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Mercer, and Morris counties in between. We run I-287, Route 206, Route 22, Route 28, and US-202 every day, handling everything from a Raritan studio to a brick walk-up with steep front steps in Bound Brook, and we head out across New Jersey, the I-95 corridor, and beyond on the long hauls on a regular basis.
Do you offer storage, and is it climate-controlled?
Yes. We run our own clean, dry storage right here in Manville, including climate-controlled units for wood furniture, electronics, artwork, and anything else that does not like temperature swings. You can store by the month for as long as you need, and the same crew that packs you out can move you back in when you are ready.
Do you charge a flat rate or by the hour?
Both, depending on the move. Local jobs are usually billed at an honest hourly rate for the crew and truck, while long-distance and larger relocations get a written flat-rate quote based on an in-home or video survey. Either way you approve the price in writing before move day — no curbside surprises.
Is a deposit required to book my move?
We take a small, fully credited deposit to hold your date on the calendar, and it comes straight off your final bill. During our busy spring and summer season dates fill up fast, so the sooner you book, the better your odds of locking in the day and time you want.
How is my furniture insured, and what valuation do I get?
Every move includes basic carrier liability coverage as required by law, and we carry $1M cargo coverage on every move. For higher-value households we offer full-value protection so a damaged or lost item is repaired or replaced at its actual value. We are happy to walk you through the options before you sign.
Can you provide a Certificate of Insurance for my building?
Absolutely. Many condos, high-rises, and office buildings in Somerset County require a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming the property as additional insured before move day. Send us your building’s requirements and management contact and our office will issue the COI well ahead of your move — at no extra charge.
